«I learnt about “Sisters cafe” about a year ago from my friend who went there to work with her laptop. She told me that it’s a very hearty and cosy place with delicious food, so I should definitely go there and try something.
When I came to “Sisters Cafe” for the first time it was raining heavily outside and there were horrible traffic jams in the street. I was practically running through the rain along Pokrovka street and having reached the cafe went downstairs to the lower floor. There was a totally different atmosphere full of calmness, quietness and coolness. There weren’t many people. The only company that was sitting next to me was very calm and quiet. Being in “Sisters cafe” I had a really good rest from the hectic city.

The same day I ordered my favourite pasta “Carbonara”. It was really delicious. Among drinks I chose coffee. Incidentally, each client here always gets a free bottle of water.
My friends recommended me pizza but I can recommend salad with chicken breast, asparagus and avocado. As I don’t like sweets very much I can’t say anything about desserts.
In “Sisters Cafe” you can clearly feel the presence of “woman’s hand”. This cafe has been established by two sisters and all staff have been carefully selected. You can feel something family-like in here and realize that the owners’ of the cafeteria are real hearth keepers.
The interior of the lower-level hall
In spite of the walls made of bricks and a cellar-type room downstairs everything looks nice and beautiful. A can hardly imagine that some male-host could put the picture of Audrey Hepburn on the wall of his cafe.
There is the atmosphere of Italy which is sensed through the pictures with different shots taken from the film “Roman Holiday” and photos of Sophia Loren. Although it’s not clear why there are photos of one of the Kennedy brothers and of Sean Connery. But personally I could look at Connery all evening long.
There are often old film shows in “Sisters Cafe”
I like best of all the lower hall of the “Sisters Cafe” where you can hide and nobody will find you. You can spend some time with your friends, work or study a little bit. For instance, if a man invites a girl to a cafe and then you find yourselves in a small Venice, it must be exciting.
An afternoon in Italy?
This cafe has quite democratic prices. I think any person can afford to come here and order something from the menu. This isn’t a “luxury” segment as the prices in “Sisters Cafe” are rather affordable, in my opinion, for everyone.
Choose a tea and enjoy its taste with a good book
One can spend time in the cafe in different ways. I can go to my favourite place, take a sit and start writing with comfort as now I’m working at my thesis. But I would never choose a “Shokoladnitsa” or a “Coffee House” place as they’re often noisy and impossible to work in.
And if you want to have a good time with you friends, it would depend on people and what cuisine they prefer. Now vegetarian cuisine is very fashionable, and if you choose a place without vegan menu and there is a vegetarian in a company, the situation might be rather problematic. I try to choose places with diverse menu so it would suit everyone.
I will certainly come back to “Sisters Cafe” when I defend my thesis as it’s a good place where nobody distracts you from work of studying.»
