“Knyaz Golitsyn” Restaurant

The building where “Golitsyn” restaurant is located is quite a usual house even among historical points of interest in Moscow. Many years ago it was an urban mansion of noble Golitsyn family that had participated in Russia’s fate many times. And on the first floor of the building (where the restaurant itself is situated), were boyar chambers of the XVII century that have preserved their genuine architecture plan very well.

Here Vasily Golitsyn used to invite for a splendid dinner Peter the Great ‘s father – Tzar Alexey Mikhailovich who was also famous for being a great art admirer.

Peter’ sister and rival – Princess Sofia used to come here to have “secret conversations” with her favourite – the same Duke Vasily Golitsyn. It’s known that those meetings would happen in a small cosy room (now it’s the “Green Hall” of the restaurant).

Peter the Great himself also used to come here quite often. His supporters also were her – Duke Menshikov, Lefort, Sheremetyev, Romodanovsky…

If you visit our restaurant, you’ll learn more about all this and, at least a little, dive into the atmosphere of those romantic times. Our chefs will help you with it, they’ve carefully recreated the dishes from our menu according to old recipes.
